The project is the brain child of famous architect/land developer Francois Spoerry who also conceived and designed Port Grimaud, located in the French Riviera. It is a unique marina-city concept, the only one of its kind in Turkey with only a handful of examples around the world. The project’s master plan was designed in 1999, shortly before Mr. Spoerry’s passing. His assistant, Mr. Xavier Bohl, is currently at the helm of the Project’s general conceptual design.
Port Alacati uses architectural design elements and construction materials reminiscent of the traditional local architecture. It is a synthesis and a seamless integration of these local elements, traditional Mediterranean architecture and modern design concepts bringing together nostalgic design with all the modern comfort and convenience features. Each buiding features a unique elevation design – no two facades are the same.
To achieve such a diverse mix of structures, several designers and architectural groups work in concert. Among these are Mr. Aykut Mutlu with his land development and architectural expertise, Mr. Xavier Bohl with his experience in waterfront developments, AYYAPI with its knowledge of traditional Aegean architecture and Ozan Architectural Firm with its ability to blend the traditional designs with modern structures.
